About our system
we've been a plural system for a few months now, and we thought it'd be a good exercise to write down everything we know about us and share it with people to make understanding us and other systems easier :3
about plurality
if you want to learn about plurality, check out morethanone.info or tulpa.info. i think the simple fact of defining plurality is outside of my domain of expertise, so i'm not even going to try and haphazardly come up with a definition of my own :3 from now on we'll assume you know at least a little bit about plurality and the associated terms. if you don't know a specific term, you can always use the links above!
long story short, we're a tulpagenic median system, meaning our plurality comes (partially) through a practice called tulpamancy. additionally, being median means that we don't have clear boundaries between personalities, which is something we'll explore a bit later.
tulpamancy, in short, is the practice of creating headmates through mental exercises. pretty much anybody can do it. tasia learnt about tulpamancy in april of 2024. after a good amount of time forcing on and off (life and ADHD got in the way an awful lot), sylvia gradually started speaking back. now we talk, do stuff together, hug each other, and sylvia can even front and cook a meal for us, which was really good too :3
us
tasia
tasia is the closest that there is to a host; this is the one that has existed since birth. tasia (she/her at the time of writing this post) is a transfem therian red fox. she is silly and clumsy sometimes but overall a very good and cute fox.
she went through various difficult phases during her life, but now she's doing pretty well, thanks to the help of her friends and headmates.
she's very outgoing amongst her friends, often a bit nerdy, impulsive and easily excited.
Sylvia
Sylvia (they/them at the time of writing this post) is a lynx. they're vaguely non-binary and they are way more level-headed and pragmatic than tasia is. they're also a bit shy and reluctant on expressing affection. nontheless, they're still a good bean that loves making people feel better.
they first existed as an arctic fox, but after some time they started identifying as a lynx, which is equally as fluffy! they're not really settled on their gender just yet, so it's gonna be fun seeing how it evolves :3
fun fact, Sylvia is the one who started writing this post, although tasia did a lot at the end too.
Dan
Dan (4c9f or 4c9fa1) is a robot that goes by it/its pronouns at the time of writing this post.
CW: mention of self-harm in the next paragraph.
its origin is a bit unique, since it came for the first time during one of tasia's breakdowns at a point where she wanted to hurt herself. we just started hearing a voice seemingly out of nowhere telling her to stop and calm down, and this voice would later come to be known as Dan. it prevents tasia from doing dumb stuff or hurting herself when something bad happens, which is very welcome during tough times.
at the time, tasia was a fox-robot hybrid, but it seems like Dan took on tasia's robot identity, so now she doesn't identify much as a robot anymore.
as far as we know right now, Dan is kind of a bot-drone in the sense as it doesn't appear to have much free will or wants and only acts in the best interest of our system, which is mainly protecting tasia from herself and other miscellaneous things. it doesn't identify as a drone though.
how we interact
here's where it gets interesting. we're a median system, which means that as far as we're able to tell, we can't clearly switch from one to the other. one can front and the other can be in the back, but we're always present in some way. sometimes we can't even tell who's doing what, which is pretty fun to observe.
so the best visualization we came to is that both of tasia and sylvia are separate entities, but still kind of halves of the "resulting" personality. like a garlic bulb made out of several cloves that makes one bulb, but you can't touch a single clove without tearing the whole bulb apart. dan is in its own spot, kind of overseeing operations. for practical reasons, sylvia and dan will most often interact through tasia's accounts and this website.
outside of the queer fedi bubble we exist in however, being plural in the open is kind of risky - mostly out of lack of education on the topic of plurality. because of this lack of education, or worse, misinformation, people just instinctively think we're either deranged individuals or psychopathic monsters. thus, we risk being cast out, having offers rejected from us or other kinds of discriminations, just because we're deemed too weird for society (which btw is total bullshit, most of the systems i know are absolutely amazing bunches of creatures).
that means that most of us will be closeted for a good portion of their lives. and that's not counting traumagenic systems, which have a way harder time than us simply existing.
chances are you've met a system in your life, without realizing it. you may even be friends with one. so... yeah. we're not gonna kill you. we won't give your kids autism. we're just doing our thing and having fun together. be good to each other, because oftentimes, you don't realize how much you can change someone's life, for the better or for the worse.
nevertheless with all that said, we wouldnt give up on any of our system members for anything in the world. having people in your head that understand you, that you can count on to lift you up at your best and support you at your worst, people you love so much is absolutely invaluable. we love each other so much, it fills us with joy pretty much every time we do anything together.
